All cats purchased from the Cica Cattery are registered with the ACFA and TICA. A registration with the CFA is optional and can be discussed with Maria.
When you purchase a pedigree cat from
Cica or any reputable cattery you should receive the following:
A purchase agreement
Proof of registration (perhaps delivered at a later date)
Vet record of all shots given and when and a full CBC blood chemistry panel
done before vaccination
Copy of the cat's pedigree
Various information on kitten care and food
Maria does not ship kittens or cats purchased from her. She will however do everything possible to travel to meet you at a predetermined location depending on distance or fly with the kitten on board. Maria prefers to meet the people she is selling a cat to.
When you purchase a cat from Cica you will be required to sign a purchase agreement that states you will not have the cat declawed without written consent from Maria. Please read the relevant CFA Guidance Statement.
Maria raises all her kittens on a raw food diet. If you continue to feed raw but don't want to grind fresh whole carcasses (which can be purchased from Taylor Pond Farms), she recommends you supplement chunked meat (ideally from animals raised on organic pasture or organic feed) with liver (for extra taurine) and finely ground bones and vitamins (which can be purchased from Feline Future or Platinum Performance). If you wish to use canned or dry food, she recommends you choose a brand that is grain-free and has a high protein content. Maria provides detailed information about cat nutrition to those who purchase her kittens. She recommends the book Your Cat by Elizabeth Hodgkins DVM for all kitten buyers, the website www.catinfo.org by Lisa A. Pierson DVM, and the information on feeding cats provided by the Feline Advisory Bureau.
Maria would like you to look at the following sites:
The first one is the TAIGA Siberian Breed Club.
The next two are the Indoor Cat Initiative and Max's House. These are great sites to help people keep their cats happy indoors and to reduce the need or want of the cat to wander or stray outside where it could become injured or diseased.
Maria is a member of many online discussion groups including the forum at WeLoveSiberians.com, a site dedicated to Siberian cats and the people who love them. In addition to a forum, the site has classifieds, a photo gallery, and more. Come join our Siberian communty!
